Millsboro Firefighter returns from CA. wildfires

California

The second Millsboro firefighter to participate with the Delaware Forestry Service has returned after a two week stint, working the fireline on the California. Firefighter Andy Atkins spent 299 hours fighting not only the wildfires but high terrain, 16 hour shifts, shuttling to fires by boat and the ever present poison oak during his deployment.

Head On MVA

Zoar Rd West of Peterkins Rd

Saturday evening, August 16th, the Millsboro Fire Co. responded to a report of a MVA on Zoar Rd, just west of Peterkins Rd. Responding units found two vehicles which had struck basically head on, sitting in the middle of the roadway. Three patients had self-extracated from the pickup and were attended to by Millsboro EMS and Sussex County Paramedics. Two were transported by ground and one by Trooper 2 to area hospitals. The driver of the second vehicle had fled the scene by the time emergency......
