Delaware Burn Ban in Effect
Delaware's 2023 Burn Ban goes into effect on May 1 and runs thru September 30, typically referred to as the "Ozone Season". The Open Burning Regulations define open burning "as any outdoor fire or outdoor smoke producing process from which the products of combustion are emitted directly into the ambient air. This does not include incinerators, boilers, or heaters used in process operations". Only cooking fires, campfires, patio fire pits, chimenea and ceremonial fires are allowed during the Ozone Season. All residential open burning must wait until October 1, 2023. For further information regarding open burning regulations, please refer to dnrec.alpha.delaware.gov.
